Password Protecting Folders Inside Thunderbird
(too old to reply)

Hello, using thunderbird 1.5 here. Is there anyway that I can
password protect mail folders from inside Thunderbird? This would be
very beneficial in keeping prying eyes out of private emails. Doesn't
have to be "real" security enough to keep casual onlookers from
reading what isn't theirs.
Thanks in advance.

No there is not.

I believe it was decided that this was not an issue, since most OS's now
have user identities. If you set up a password to protect your user id
to start up, no one will be able to get at any of your documents.

Linux and OSX insist on this. Win XP allows you to create a password, or
leave it without one.

Thanks for the reply, guess I can quit looking and start trying how to
privatize my account in Win2k, thanks again.

Good thought, I'll file that one.

But if you really want it anyway, I think this extension should do it. Haven't
tried it myself.
